Biodiversity Conservation Workshop

Funding Need: $15,381

Educate and empower local community members by sponsoring a biodiversity conservation workshop! Communities living in and around red panda habitat are often marginalized and have inadequate educational opportunities. These workshops provide in-depth training about red pandas and their importance to the conservation of the eastern Himalayan ecosystem.

Education Workshops and Training for Rural & Municipality Council

Funding Need: $14,811

Elected members of the Rural and Municipality Council are responsible for managing natural resources, however they are often unaware of environmental issues. By sponsoring education workshops and training, 114 members from Western Nepal can be trained in natural resource management and biodiversity conservation best practices.

Pandas and Pangolins

Funding Need: $10,000

This project focuses on two endangered species in Nepal — red panda and Chinese pangolin — as conservation ambassadors of two different but connected habitats.

Sponsor this project to be a part of a wide-reaching campaign to protect flagship species! The Panda and Pangolins proejct will include on-the-ground research, education and outreach initiatives, and protection for both red pandas and pangolins from anthropogenic threats.

Reforestation of Red Panda Habitat

Funding Need: $4,830

Sponsor the reforestation of 6 hectares in Maharudra Community Forest of Jumla District, Western Nepal, where bamboo and other native species will be planted.

Nettle Fiber Extraction Training

Funding Need: $4,481

Support the sustainable livelihood of the local people of Nepal with Nettle-fiber production and extraction training. This training equips locals with the skills to live sustianably while economically indpepent.

Capacity-Building Training

Funding Need: $3,639

Sponsor the capacity enhancement and conservation education for local and national law enforcement agencies. They will learn about habitat protection, threat identification, and anti-poaching investigation.

Red Panda Conservation Textbook and Curriculum

Funding Need: $2,626

Educate the new generation of forest guardians! Your sponsorship will provide local schools with red panda conservation education books and curriculum.

Red Panda Scholarship for Students

Funding Need: $2,220

With your support, 50 marginalized school children —with an emphasis on young girls — of Community Forests in Jumla, Jajarkot and Kalikot district will receive school supplies (stationary materials, uniform, etc) for one year.

Forest Guardian Training

Funding Need: $1,553

Help Forest Guardians develop skills in habitat monitoring and protection – including block establishment methods, pellet sample collection, and stray dog surveys – with an emphasis on anti-poaching patrolling (disabling traps/snares). They also learn about field safety protocols, as well as how to restore forests and conservation ponds.

Herder Awareness Workshop

Funding Need: $1,236

Herders rely on the same land that red pandas do. Help us education livestock herders on the importance of red pandas and habitat conservation.

As a thank you for sponsoring a project up to $1,000, you will receive recognition through:

Herder Tent

Funding Need: $700 per tent

 Support the local community dependent on red panda habitat with simple but life-changing solutions, like high quality tents. These mobile tents replace wood sheds and reduce timber demand.

Monitoring of Red Panda Habitat

Funding Need: $588

Sponsor the community-based monitoring of red panda habitat conducted four times a year at 12 monitoring blocks in Jajarkot district, Western Nepal.

Herder Improved Cooking Stove

Funding Needs: $425 per stove

With your support, herders will receive fuel-efficient cookstoves that reduce firewood consumption and indoor air pollution.

Homestay stove

Funding Need: $400 per stove

Support the sustainable livelihood of the local people of Nepal! Homestay families will receive improved cookstoves that reduce firewood consumption and indoor air pollution.
